Home Study
Approximately 5–10 hours per week
No classes during QLD school holiday periods
Reading course materials and watching educational videos
Participating in creative and art therapy activities both via zoom and in person
Completing practical projects and reflective learning exercises
Facilitating a holistic art therapy session with a person of your choice
Assessment is competency-based through weekly submissions and practical activities
Support is available via email, optional phone appointments, and a private student Facebook community
HICAT is open to those aged 18+ (including mature students)
No art experience or prior study needed
Must be able to manage personal emotional triggers
You will need access to a computer, internet connection and email to participate in the live Zoom modules
You will receive a list of materials to use for the course
Commitment to regular attendance for the best learning experience
Sharing your personal reflections and creativity is encouraged during class, but is always optional
You can have up to four absences without affecting your certification or accreditation


Course Structure:
HICAT consists of 20 modules delivered through a combination of 11 live Zoom modules and 9 face-to-face modules.
Each module combines theory with practical and experiential learning, allowing you to explore creative arts therapies through both guided learning and hands-on activities.
Throughout the course, you will experience a wide variety of creative approaches including art making, meditation, movement, sound, storytelling, tactile therapies and reflective practices.
